A five day course (free if you are in the European Union) which may be of interest to Transitioners in Europe who are involved in adult education, training or facilitation.

A Five Day Course for Adult Educators in Cloughjordan Ecovillage
October 15 – 19 2012
The overall objective of this In Service Training is to foster knowledge and build the capacity of adult educators in the following areas:
- Place Based Learning Introduce experiential and community-based education to your learning programs.
- Problem Based Learning Help learners develop flexible knowledge, problem solving skills, self-directed learning, and effective collaboration skills.
- Active Learning Explore methodologies for facilitating participatory and active learning, such as world café and open space.
- Education for Sustainable Development Include ecological awareness or whole system approaches in course delivery
- Active Citizenship Inspire behavioral change and introduce new approaches in community engagement and participation.
- Social and Eco Entrepreneurship Enable initiative and entrepreneurship in green technologies and sustainable livelihoods
Funding is available to cover the full course fee, accommodation and travel under the EU Grundtvig in service training programme. Applicants must be working in adult education (in a paid or voluntary capacity) in an EU country other than Ireland.

This course is being held in Ireland’s largest ecovillage, which features 50 high performance green homes, its own woodlands, edible landscapes and the country’s largest renewable energy district heating system. A community supported agriculture scheme provides organic food for the community and a range of new businesses have been established, including a wood fired bakery. The ecovillage is fast becoming a destination for learners with a new 32- bed hostel catering for visitors.
